HealthLink Medical Center - Southhampton
For working, uninsured adults who have incomes at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, dental care may become an expense they cannot afford even when necessary for their well-being. Established to alleviate this burden for individuals living in Bucks and Montgomery counties, HealthLink Medical Center in Southhampton opened its medical and dental clinics in 2001 to provide free care to patients who are working, uninsured and meet the income specific guidelines.
In 2012, HealthLink had 1,770 visits to the dental clinic and provided more than $227,000 worth of dental services at no charge to patients. These services include exams, digital radiographs, digital Panorex, restorations, extractions, hygiene, quadrant scaling and root planning, and urgent care.
HealthLink is a nonprofit organization which operates exclusively through charitable donations and a predominantly volunteer based staff. The dental team is comprised of one part-time dental assistant, one dental hygienist/dental coordinator, hygiene students, volunteer dental hygienists and 18 local dentists. The majority of volunteer dentists provide services directly at the clinic while others see HealthLink patients at their private practices. Many of the volunteer dentists that dedicate their time and services are members of the Pennsylvania Dental Association.
