Licensure for Dentists and Hygienists Practicing in
Pennsylvania
PDA is supportive of changes to current licensure requirements to
allow for more freedom of movement for dentists and hygienists wanting
to practice in Pennsylvania. PDA advocates in favor of regulations for
licensure by reciprocity and credentialing to members of the
Pennsylvania General Assembly and State Board of Dentistry.
Dental Residency Program
PDA is working in conjunction with ADA to actively oppose
proposed regulations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
that would eliminate federal funding for non-hospital based dental
residency training programs. These regulations would eliminate nearly
half of all dental residency positions in the United States.
Student Loan Repayment
PDA lobbies members of the Pennsylvania General
Assembly in support of programs that provide school loan repayment
as an incentive for those dental students willing to practice in
designated health professional shortage areas.
Insurance Practices
To ensure the viability of the dental profession, PDA advocates for
legislative and regulatory measures that require insurers operating in
Pennsylvania to provide timely and fair reimbursement for dental
services. PDA also works closely with officials in order to hold
accountable state-operated insurance programs.
