Event Details
Meet and Greet • October 24, 2009
This annual event, hosted in part by the Alliance of the BCDS in
conjunction with the board, allows for social camaraderie in a casual
setting for the entire BCDS membership. This event has previously
been held at the Stirling Mansion as
well as at the lovely homes of the BCDS membership including Drs.
Wardius and Schmoyer. The 2008 Meet and Greet event was held at the
Wyomissing home of Dr. Natalie Parisi. In attendance was Senator
Michael O'Pake and State Representative Charles Mantz. Please
contact Karen Lord at the BCDS if you would like to offer your home for
this exciting social event.
Dinner with Learning • November 5, 2009
An annual event at which the membership can enjoy a delicious meal while
learning about a new topic or by getting a refreshing lecture on a
familiar topic. Lecturers vary from implant experts to laboratory
demonstrations. Most lecturers are from the greater Reading
area. This event is held at the Stirling Mansion in Centre Park,
Reading. The date for this event is Thursday, November 5,
2009 and continuing education credits are awarded for
participation. There is a nominal fee that includes the cost of
dinner, drinks, and the CEUs. This year’s theme will be
"Member Dentist's Techniques and
Technologies." Information will be sent out in October.
Golf Outing
Enjoy a nice day, hit the tee and soak up the sunshine during our annual
golfing event. Sign up your favorite foursome or we’ll hook
you up with one. You do not have to be a professional player, just
come ready to have a blast. This event was held at the beautiful Reading
Country Club in September 2008. Dr. Ned Kotula is the golf outing
Chairman and he can be reached at the BCDS office.
Annual Banquet
The 2008 annual banquet was a great success and the board of the BCDS
thanks everyone who attended and made the event possible. We raised
over $1,700 which will be given to local charities for children who need
dental care. We thank those businesses that donated their items to
the silent auction and hope that you will support their endevors within
the Reading area as well. The 2009 annual banquet will be held
at the Teen Challenge Center in Rehrersburg, Berks County on
May 8. The theme will be a Western Barbeque with live entertainment
by Eric Fisher, a local Western Singer. Appetizers and silent
auction starts at 6 p.m., Continuing Education and
Tour from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and dinner and dancing at 7:45
p.m. Price is $65 for ADA members and guests and $75 for
Non-ADA member and guests. Western/Casual Attire. Please
contact Karen at the BCDS office for more information.
To view all members of the BCDS, use the Member
Directory and select “D1-Berks County Dental
Society” as the only criterion. (Because this directory is
for members only, you will be prompted to log in to the PDA
website.)
Alliance of the BCDS
The Alliance of the Berks County Dental Society is composed of spouses
and significant others of dental members. These individuals help
charter, organize, and oversee many of the events that the BCDS sponsors
throughout the year. The alliance is actively involved with most
social events of the BCDS, including the Annual Banquet and the Meet and
Greet. In addition, the alliance is actively involved in executing
the events of Dental Health Month as well as welcoming in the holiday
season with its annual Holiday Sharing Card. The board of the BCDS
salutes the hard-working members of the alliance and commend them on
their efforts within the Greater Reading Community.
