Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health Care Settings and OSHA Compliance

This lecture is designed to assist dental teams in meeting the requirement for an annual update on infection control and other safety regulations. The most up-to-date information will be discussed on infection control protocols, CDC guidelines, vaccinations for health care workers, record keeping and training requirements, and other work related safety information.

Upon completion of the course, the participant will:
Know recent updates to the CDC guidelines.
Recognize key concepts in infection prevention and control.
Understand the employer's responsibilities under the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. 
Recognize OSHA standards applicable to health care practices. 

About The Speaker


 

Joel Slesinger, CHC

Mr. Slesinger, a member of the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA), serves as a Certified Healthcare Compliance Consultant with MedSafe/Total Compliance Solutions, Inc. In this capacity, he has performed hundreds of on-site inspections and staff trainings for dental and healthcare facilities, veterinary hospitals and funeral homes. His seminars include those provided to The Sterilization and Monitoring Service at The Ohio State University, the dental school faculty at The Ohio State University School of Dental Medicine, the Pennsylvania Dental Assistants Association, the PDL Study Group (part of the Seattle Study Club) and various dental societies. His inspections and training sessions include OSHA, Infection Control, CDC Guidelines, Sterilization, HIPAA/HITECH, Corporate Compliance, ADA, DEA and Risk Management. 

He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, with a strong emphasis in Chemistry and Biology. He also performed graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

PDA Public Service Award 
The PDA Annual Awards Committee selected David R. Russell, DMD, as the recipient of the 2015 PDA Public Service Award for establishing a permanent dental clinic to provide comprehensive care for the guests of the Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg. The philosophy of restoration of oral health, function and appearance is a critical component of restoration of the entire self – a core goal of the mission. PDA is proud to recognize Dr. Russell’s efforts on behalf of the underserved population in Central PA.


PDA Recognition Award 
Steven Roland Jefferies, DDS, MS, who holds more than 28 patents will receive the PDA Recognition Award for his research and contributions to the art and science of dentistry. During his 20 year career at DENTSPLY International Dr. Jefferies advanced dentistry through product development. In his second career, spanning more than 40 years, he has contributed to the profession by educating future dental leaders. The PDA Annual Awards Committee is pleased to honor Dr. Jefferies for his contributions to dentistry as a researcher and an educator.
