Candidate for ADA Delegate

Dr. Nipa Thakkar

What led you to decide that this was the year you wanted to volunteer for office (PDA Officer or ADA Trustee) or volunteer to attend the ADA and represent the PDA (ADA Delegate or Alternate)?

I decided to run this year based on how much I've learned serving as alternate delegate to the ADA HOD. I hope to offer a unique perspective as a new dentist and continue serving dentistry.

What is your specific area of interest within organized dentistry?

Diversity, New Dentist recruitment and retention

What is the main issue you see facing the ADA or PDA or Dentistry in general?

I think the biggest issue in organized dentistry is a generational change in attitude about how to responsibly practice our profession. The value of belonging to an association needs to be clear.

List experience that you have that you feel prepares you for this position.

Current Vice Chair- ADA New Dentist Committee, 2015-2016 PDA 4th District President, ADA PDA alternate delegate: 2016, 2014, 2013, ADA ASDA delegate: 2011

Why should you receive my vote?

I hope to earn your vote because I have been involved in organized dentistry as a student, and I have learned that this profession needs people to remain passionate and speak up to improve our future.
