Patient Care Considerations for Street Drugs and Other Substances of Abuse and Dental Considerations for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease
Six CE credits recommended for dentists and the entire dental team.
Street Drugs - The use and abuse of both licit and illicit substances has the potential to produce adverse reactions and life-threatening medical emergencies during dental treatment. This comprehensive lecture will explore strategies for identifying the dental patient using and abusing substances, as well as techniques for effective patient management and treatment. Tom also will discuss patients using cannabis for both medical and recreational purposes. Note: this lecture will fulfill the Act 124 CE requirement for dentists with a DEA number. Act 124 requires 2 CE credits in pain management or identification of addiction or proper opioid prescribing practices.
Cardiovascular Disease - This lecture explores the family of cardiovascular diseases and the medications used in their treatment while offering patient management strategies essential for successful treatment planning. Special emphasis will be given to newly approved anticoagulant agents and their effect on dental therapy.
