PDA Distinguished Service Award

Each year, the Annual Awards Committee selects for the PDA Distinguished Service Award a dentist:

  • whose contribution of time and effort to PDA has been exceptionally significant,
  • whose significant achievements and high standards have been of such character as to have materially aided and advanced the science and art of dentistry or
  • whose public life and activities have been of such a nature as to reflect great credit upon the profession.

The nominee shall have the endorsement of their local society or of at least 25 PDA members in good standing.

Dr. Stout is a pediatric dentist specializing in the care of infants and special needs patients. She completed her dental degree in 1993 at Temple University School of Dentistry and completed a three-year pediatric dental residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 1996. While teaching full-time at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Stout completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.

She supports future generations of dentists as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University.

Dr. Stout is active in organized dentistry and has served in many key positions on the local, state and national level, including president of the Montgomery-Bucks Dental Society; Northeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry president; and she was the Northeast District Trustee on the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Board of Trustees.

Above all, Dr. Stout is a passionate child advocate. She is the lead trainer for PDA’s Act 31 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting course. She not only helped develop the course but has given many, many lectures virtually and throughout the Commonwealth since 2014.

Dr. Stout’s commitment to the profession through her service to organized dentistry, the public and future generations of dentists is exemplary and PDA is pleased to reward her efforts with our 2026 Distinguished Service Award.
