Oral Pathology – Recognition, Diagnosis and Management

Practical Oral Pathology from Recognition to Action
Six CE credits recommended for dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and EFDAs
Education Methods: lecture, slides and discussion
This course focuses on practical approaches to differential diagnoses, triage, and biopsy of the most commonly enountered infections, inflammatory conditions and neoplastic lesions. Attendees can expect to be able to:
— Formulate a differential diagnosis of common hard and soft tissue pathologies.
— Stratify risk potential of lesions and determine the best course of actions.
— Review the most commonly prescribed medications for oral infections or inflammatory conditions.
— Learn basic biopsy indications, armamentarium and technique.
— Understand when and where to refer to definitive treatment if necessary.

Presented by Austin J. Shackelford, DMD, an associate in laboratory and clinical oral pathology at Geisinger Wilkes-Barre and Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Dr. Shackelford is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology who strives to make the specialty of oral pathology more accessible and practical for all dental professionals.
