Profile of
PDA
The
Pennsylvania Dental Association is a voluntary organization comprising
more than 5,800 member dentists. It is a constituency of the American
Dental Association, the largest and oldest national dental society in
the world.
PDA was organized in 1868 to serve the public by
promoting the art and science of dentistry. It worked to maintain a
dental health education program for citizens of the Commonwealth, to
enlighten the public with respect to the prevention of oral disease and
to improve the overall health of the public. PDA remains true to these
goals today.
Some of the ways PDA serves its membership include
enhancing the image of dentistry in Pennsylvania, providing input to
laws and regulations, offering continuing education and providing PDA
members with competitive insurance products. PDA membership ensures a
dentist that he or she can take advantage of the many benefits and
member services PDA provides.
Requests for Interviews
PDA can
provide to media representatives expert spokespersons on a variety of
dental topics, including the safety and effectiveness of amalgam and
fluoride, access to dental care, pouring rights (soda) contracts in
schools, detection of child abuse, legislative and regulatory
initiatives affecting Pennsylvania dentists and their patients and a
wide array of other topics. To request an interview, simply email the communications department. A PDA staff member will identify for you an appropriate
spokesperson and coordinate the interview for you.
Dental Clinic Directory
PDA has
compiled a directory of free and reduced-fee dental clinics throughout
Pennsylvania. This directory can
be an invaluable resource for reporters across the
state.
